The social function of the self – gestalt therapeutic Perspectives of theory development and empirical research
di Albrecht Boeckh
ABSTRACT
The extension of the original, essentially egocentric self-concept of Gestalt Therapy (Id-, Ego-, Personality-function) by the inclusion of the social function of the Self is not only important to understand social integration processes, but also to explain the relational origin of the Self and its functioning. In order to research on the effectiveness of GT as a therapeutic method, it is therefore proposed to examine the methods that correspond to the various Self-functions in terms of their respective significance for the therapy of psychological and psychosocial disorders. Key terms: theory of the Self, social function of the Self, empirical research on the effectiveness of Gestalt therapeutic methods.
